Texas Longhorns Michelle Kocher Earns Big 12 Volleyball Player of the Week honors
Junior setter Michelle Kocher earns her first career honor after setting the Horns to a .379 attack mark last week.
AUSTIN, Texas – Texas junior setter Michelle Kocher has been named the Big 12 Player of the Week after leading the 10th-ranked Longhorns to wins over Kansas and Kansas State last week. The award is the first player of the week honors of her career and the sixth weekly accolade after winning five rookie of the week awards in 2008.
Kocher paced the Horns to a .379 hitting percentage in its two victories, while averaging 14.00 assists per-set and 2.83 digs per-set.
Kocher recorded a season-high 49 assists in UT’s win at Kansas and added nine digs, while leading the Horns to a .425 attack mark. In Texas’ sweep of Kansas State, the Wheaton, Illinois, native registered 35 assists, eight digs and paced the Longhorns to a .330 team hitting percentage.
Kocher and her Texas teammates return to action on Wednesday, Oct. 27 when they play host to No. 2 Nebraska. First serve is set for 8 p.m. Central on ESPNU.
